Who's Banger is the Best? Market Hall Tenants Compete for the Coveted Title
Competition is hotting up at The Market Hall in Shrewsbury as four butchers go head-to-head in the West Midlands tastiest sausage competition.
The annual Sausage Sizzle is organised by regional food group HEART of ENGLAND fine foods in support of the Farmhouse Breakfast Week national campaign, to encourage Britain to make time for a proper, locally sourced breakfast.
The Market Hall houses seven family butchers and recent trading figures show that shoppers in Shrewsbury really do consider their local butcher as their first port of call for their meat purchases.
Speaking about the competition, market hall administration manager, Kate Gittins, said: "This is exciting times for The Market Hall and we wish all competitors the best of luck in this year's competition."
Butchers and producers from all over the West Midlands will take part in this year's Tastiest Sausage Competition 2009 to create the Tastiest Breakfast Sausage or Tastiest Speciality Sausage.
Stephen Radford of Radford's Quality Meats, Jonathan Sykes of Corbetts, Christopher Yapp of Castlemoor Farm Meats and Melvyn Ling of Cook and Carve will all showcase their tastiest sausage as part of the competition.
The winners from the county sizzle off then compete for the ultimate title in the grand final at the Mailbox in Birmingham on Thursday 29 January.
