Father's Day at The Follies at Hawkstone Park
Instead of buying the usual tie or jumper for Father’s Day, would your dad be tempted to have a go at clay pigeon shooting or enjoy the challenge of having a go at off-road driving?
The Follies at Hawkstone Park in Weston-under-Redcastle, Shrewsbury, has put together a series of gift ideas with a difference to mark Sunday, June 19.
Dads can test their driving skills in a 4x4 on rough terrain in a 30-minute lesson for £25 or instructors can drive fathers and their son or daughter on a four-wheel drive course for £3.
Those who have always wanted to try clay pigeon shooting can have 15 shots for £15 or pay £25 for a 30-minute lesson. Children must be aged over 14.
A slightly more gentle activity is archery and youngsters aged from five upwards can test their skills alongside their dad with six arrows costing just £2.
Roger Whitehouse, park manager at the Follies at Hawkstone Park, said the activities didn’t need to be booked in advance although vouchers could be bought ahead of the day.
“We thought dads would really appreciate the chance to enjoy a Father’s Day present with a difference,” he said.
“The Follies is a perfect location for off-road driving, clay pigeon shooting and archery and it is a chance for dads to have a day out with their children however young or old.
“Dads and their children can simply turn up on June 19 and pay for any of the activities they would like to be involved in or the activities can be booked in advance.”
All the prices mentioned are in addition to the usual admission charges to the Follies which are £7 for adults, £4.50 for children and £6 for concessions plus family tickets of £22 for two adults and two children and £25 for two adults and three children.
