More exhibitors than ever at Ellesmere Food & Drink Festival
Ellesmere will be holding its 4th annual food and drink festival over the weekend of 19th and 20th of June and organiser Lincoln McMullan, Chairman of the Ellesmere Chamber of Commerce has expressed his delight that over 45 exhibitors have already registered to attend.
The 2 day Festival which takes place at Ellesmere Market Hall and the Town Hall is open from 10am until 4pm both days and Entry is free to the general public. It showcases impressive varieties of top quality produce, from fruit, vegetables, cheeses, meat products, ice cream, wines and beers to homemade chocolates and preserves all from local and regional producers, suppliers and restaurants.
Commenting, Mr McMullan said “The whole purpose of the Food & Drink Festival is to promote Ellesmere and its businesses and local producers. We are now in our 4th year of the Festival and are attracting more exhibitors than ever. New exhibitors this year include Chirk Trout Farm, Ludlow Jams, Blue Wood Cottage Berry Farm in Whitchurch to mention just a few, and as always, we also have exhibitors coming back year after year.”
One such business is Stonehouse Brewery in Oswestry. Commenting on the popular Festival, owners Alison and Shane Parr said, “Stonehouse Brewery started up in 2007 and attended the first Ellesmere Food and Drink Festival after just a short few months of trading; for us, it was hectic, but great fun and we’ve exhibited every year since. The festival has grown and improved over the years - as have we!”
“Ellesmere is a lively festival with plenty of entertainment and lots of lovely local food and drink producers. We always end up spending our proceeds on beautiful specialties to take home with us. The festival mixes the best new local suppliers as well as quality old favourites. We were pleased to have recently received recognition for our beers in the form of a couple of awards at the recent SIBA (Society of Independent Brewers) Awards – Cambrian Gold was awarded Bronze in Best Bitters (4.1 – 4.5%) and Wheeltapper’s Wheat Beer gained Bronze for the Speciality Beers category. We’re also pleased that finally, we have our full range of cask beers available in bottle – something our Ellesmere Festival customers have been asking for!”
The Festival coincides with Fathers Day, enabling families to come together and enjoy the food, drink and events in and around the Ellesmere area. For further information visit www.shropshiredaysout.co.uk or www.ellesmerefoodfestival.co.uk
