Local Business Supports Charity Festival
Meadowdale Nurseries in Telford have announced today, that they will be supporting the Ironbridge Gorge Brass Band Festival again this year. The Festival, which is held on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd July at The Museum of Iron in Coalbrookdale, is an annual Brass Music Event including a gala evening concert that aims to raise money for local charity, Severn Hospice.
In its 15 year duration, the event has raised a staggering amount and has now donated more than £30,000 to Severn Hospice.
The objective of the Festival is to promote brass music in the area and encourage people of all ages to come along and enjoy it, whilst also raising money for charity. Entry to the festival during the daytime (10am – 5.30pm) on the Saturday and Sunday is free of charge, with an evening concert on the Saturday night, as the main fund-raiser, with tickets priced at just £5 per ticket (under 14’s are free).
The Gala Charity Concert, is an open-air concert, which will take place on the lawn at the Museum of Iron. The concert will be performed by the TCTC Group Band and JM Brass from Telford and will feature a selection of great music including film and stage. The concert will start at 7.30pm and all proceeds from the ticket sales will go to Severn Hospice.
The open air event, which has grown year on year, is now recognised as one of the premier events in the local Brass Band calendar.
Meadowdale Nurseries will be providing all of the plants and containers that decorate the stage, which will then be raffled off at the end of the weekend, to raise more money for the Charity.
John Anderson, co-owner of the Nurseries, said:
“We have been supporting the festival for the last 6 years and are more than happy to help again this year. We pro-actively raise money for Severn Hospice during the year at the garden centre as well, as we think it is such a worthwhile cause, so the fact that the proceeds of the concert goes to them as well, is great.”
The Ironbridge Gorge Brass Band Festival is a registered charity run entirely by volunteers. Each year they organise probably the biggest non-competitive celebration of brass band music in England.
Neil Fury, Festival Chairman said:
“The Festival is run entirely by unpaid volunteers and all of our funding comes from sponsorship, grants and donations. So we are always extremely grateful to local businesses such as Meadowdale for their kind donations and support. Without this continuing support, the Festival simply could not proceed.”
Mike Perry, community fundraising advisor at Severn Hospice said:
“We are immensely proud and grateful for our continued association with such a wonderful event. Every year hundreds of people enjoy a weekend of wonderful music in the beautiful surroundings of the Museum of Iron in Coalbrookdale.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the festival committee, our Broseley Support Group for their contribution, the bands and everyone who attended the Charity Gala Concert for raising such a fantastic amount for our hospice.”

Tickets to the evening concert are available from all of the Severn Hospice shops and on their website www.severnhospice.org.uk. They can also be purchased on the night at the gate. The organisers would like to encourage people to use the Park and Ride system from Jiggers Bank this year, as they will not have access to the Aga Works and parking is very limited.
