Free help 2 quit clinic at the Market Hall is start of Shrewsbury's quit-a-thon
With the credit crunch leaving many shoppers tightening their purse strings, the Market Hall in Shrewsbury has joined forces with Shropshire County Primary Care Trust to offer people advice on stopping smoking - giving them the option to stop while you shop.
The Market Hall will be transformed into an official Help 2 Quit Clinic at the weekend, giving free NHS advice and support to local shoppers about kicking the habit.
The clinics will be held for four consecutive Saturdays from January 17 between 10am and 2.30pm and anyone is welcome to come along and get professional, impartial advice on helping to quit smoking.
Nikki Ballard, Choosing Health Manager from Shropshire County PCT Help 2 Quit team commented: "Smoking is not only a drain on your health, but it's also a considerable drain on your wealth."
"We want people who want to give up smoking to come along to the Market Hall, to find out information about the options open. There is not only professional advice and support but also a range of resources that people can try."
Speaking about the clinic, market administration manager, Kate Gittins said: "This is the first time The Market Hall has teamed up with the PCT on Help 2 Quit smoking initiatives. We look forward to helping our customers make a healthy start to 2009."
