Festive fun at Discovery Centre!
As the festive season begins, Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre is celebrating with lots of Christmas fun for all the family. From Crafty Christmas fun for the kids, to cookery courses for the adults, there will be something for everyone to enjoy.
The Centre’s popular Christmas Craft Fair kicked off the celebrations this weekend as hundreds of visitors started their Christmas shopping, enjoying the delicious Christmas treats from the award winning café and joining in the family craft activities. Stall holders, including Tilly Teadance and Shropshire Gem Crafts had loads of lovely treats on offer and were joined by HiJinx Ceilidh Band who filled the Centre with festive music.
Coming up in December at the Centre is:
• Christmas Vegetarian Cookery Course - Thursday 7th December 10am – 2pm
In the lead up to Christmas take some time out and join Milly in our Pop-up kitchen. She will show you there is more to vegetarian cooking than nut loaf and bean feasts! Just £35 per person, booking essential.
• Jazz night – Friday 15th December featuring the Elliot Samson Trio with guest saxophonist, Chris Young.
Tickets are £12. Come along a little earlier; enjoy a homemade Shropshire Lad hotpot before the performance, meat & vegetarian option available. £8 per person, booking essential. Doors open at 6.45pm with a full bar service.
• “Crafty Christmas” Activities - Thursday 21st and 28th December 11am-3pm
This Christmas Holidays, bring the children for Crafty Christmas activities. There’ll be no need for buying decorations, the kids will have it covered! Just £3.50 per accompanied 3-11 year old. No need to book, just drop in and enjoy!
After the buzz of Christmas:
• Winter Wellbeing Cookery Course – Tuesday 16th January 10am-2pm
Prepare and eat colourful, vitamin fuelled dishes to kick start the year. Join Milly Rees as she explores healthy, wholesome food for the ultimate Winter Wellbeing course. Mid-winter can be a tough time for body and soul. This hands-on session is all about fighting the blues with vitamin boosts and happy food. £35 per person, booking essential.

The Centre will be open as usual over the festive period, only closing on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. The Centre will also close at the slightly earlier time of 4pm on Christmas Eve.
Entry to the Discovery Centre and Onny Meadows is free but there is a charge for visitors to enjoy our Shropshire Hills Through Time exhibition and visit our mammoth. The Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre offers an extensive programme of family events, adult courses and a variety of activities for the whole family.
